The island appears as a metaphor for mourning.
And mourning as the recovery of memory.
During my last trip to São Tomé and Príncipe, my father's
homeland, I was once again confronted with his absence. I found myself on his
island, surrounded by sea and endless vegetation. I try to fill myself with his
"presence" and recover the memory of what I didn't experience with
him. I create a new affection for the island. Between nostalgia and the
emptiness of his absence, "there is no time".
